Letter from the Secretary General

On behalf of the Seton Hall United Nations Association and the entire secretariat, it is with great excitement that I welcome you to the first iteration of HallMUN. In this time of constant uncertainty, Model UN is more important than ever before. Although we are unable to congregate in person for a traditional experience, I am eager to show that a virtual conference can result in the same level of competition, camaraderie and growth. The secretariat and staff is devoted to providing as close to an in-person experience as possible and are working feverishly to ensure that the first HallMUN is a resounding success.

Like everything this past year, MUN needs to be re-imagined in order to function during this pandemic. A guide to virtual Model UN is provided on this site, and the staff is ready and willing to provide technological assistance when necessary. Included within the schedule of committee sessions is a dedicated technology check, and our secretariat is always available to answer questions concerning logistics.

Our staff has selected committee topics for which they have a strong passion and intrigue, resulting in an expansive range of diverse committees. From thought-provoking General Assembly committees to dynamic crises (and an Ad-Hoc that is sure to keep delegates guessing), delegates are bound to find a committee that matches your interests and specialties. With committees geared to function in a virtual environment, we are excited to provide an unforgettable experience for the delegates in attendance.

I am proud to announce HallMUN will be donating a large portion to a worthwhile charity, and giving delegations the option to donate an additional amount through their registration in order to help this cause. HallMUN is committed to helping create the change that many have demanded over the past months and years, and are eager to share this information with the delegates. As the secretariat confirms its involvement with a particular charity, our website and information will be updated.

I recognize the difficulties surrounding the planning and coordination of events, so the secretariat is prepared to be as flexible as possible in order to allow for you to participate in the conference. If I can be of any assistance to you throughout the registration process or answer any questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch with me.

I look forward to meeting you all at HallMUN in November!

Warm Regards,

Stephen Hoffman
